Macau Kakau Makes History at the North West Chocolate Festival!
Dear friends
We are thrilled to share our recent participation in the North West Chocolate Festival, where we not only showcased our finest chocolate but also the spirit and biodiversity of Costa Rica. Here’s a glimpse of all that happened!
Building Lasting Relationships
Makau Kakau continues to make history, connecting with friends and collaborators who share our passion for chocolate and conservation. This time, we highlight those who joined us in Seattle, including Fred and Deb Rubin from the Center for Biodiversity Restoration Foundation, and Obie Pressman from Insight Chocolate, all alongside our director Pablo Gordienko. We are deeply grateful to our volunteers, whose dedication made our success at this important event possible.
Promoting Costa Rica and Our Chocolate Workshops
At the festival, we not only promoted our chocolates but also our country and conservation projects. Our immersive chocolate workshop, led by Obie and Michelle Pressman from Seattle, is a unique experience that goes beyond just creating a chocolate bar. We offer a full immersion at Macaw Lodge, in Costa Rica’s central Pacific rainforest, where participants harvest the cacao, ferment it, roast it, and process it. It’s an unforgettable experience you won’t want to miss!
The Youngest Taster at the Festival: Serena!
A memorable moment was the visit of Serena, a 12-year-old chocolate taster. Serena, who has been exploring the world of chocolate since she was six, amazed us when she tasted our 70% cacao bar, detecting floral notes and a hint of orange that left us impressed. Congratulations, Serena, on your incredible talent!
Conservation and Awareness: Biological Corridors
Makau Kakau also used this platform to highlight the importance of Biological Corridors and the work of the Center for Biodiversity Restoration Foundation, which leads the “Connectivity Route” project. This year, our presentation attracted over 50 people committed to conservation, marking another step forward in our efforts to protect biodiversity.
A Final Message of Gratitude
This festival was an incredible opportunity to share our mission and vision, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who made this experience possible. From our collaborators and volunteers to the chocolate lovers who visited our stand, thank you for being part of this journey!
Remember, with every bite of Makau Kakau, you not only enjoy excellent chocolate but also contribute to the preservation of our planet.
